Question, do you think too much darkening of the corners? Would it look more natural without?

Jay,
I like the vignetting, it adds to the picture. It does however look like the sensor on your D600 has the famous well knwon oil spotting problem, I can see many spots all about the same sive in the blue sky.

I am afraid so. Removed some spots but didn't get them all. Time for sensor cleaning.

I think the photo would be more natural without the vignette. The scene is an excellent capture.

Carefully removed spots (left the UFO in upper left) and no vignette. Still trying to find the right look.

It totally depends in the picture , and then what strength and depth you add a vignette. On this occasion my personal opinion is that the vignette is has not enhanced the shot and is too severe.

Man, i sure learn a lot from this site, even if i don't ask a question. Can you tell me what the oil spots are, where they come from? i would have guesed they were spots on the lens.

The spots were visible in the sky when viewed at full size, They were to all the same size and a there were many of them. Dust would have been irregular and not as prolific. The D600 is known for this problem. I check for dust by snapping a picture of the blue sky at the smallest aperture (F16 or F22). Dust or oil will show up as dark spots.
