I was told me that the Sigma 18mm-250mm is a very good lens, looking into a lens that will pretty much take care of most of my needs for now, distance, width, an close up shots as well....anyone out there using this lens...or direct me to a pretty good one. Thanks

Not a bad all around lens for the money. It is very slow at longer end and has a fair amount of distortion at all lengths. Not a lens you would want in low light conditions. Suggest you Google "Sigma 18-250 reviews". There are some good reviews for you to read. After you have read them you will be able to better decide if this lens will do the job for you. Good luck with your decision. ;)

okay, will look into it but in the meantime, what would your suggestion be!! I am still looking an could use all the suggestions on a very good lens under $1,000.00 if possible.

I highly recommend the Canon 24-105mm f/4 IS lens. it retails for $1,100, but you can get it a refurbished one on Canon's site for $920. It also regularly sells on Ebay for around $900 - most of those are new & sold from a camera/lens kit.

It's a fantastic lens over the range that it covers. You won't get the distance that you may want, but this lens will take care of everything else you are looking for.

Go with the newest macro version.
But I will consider the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8
or Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8

Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM for Canon Digital SLR Cameras --- $399.00

The Sigma 18-250 is a good lens and should be a consideration in any discussion of lenses of this range.

Check out the Tamron 18-270mm. I use it on my Canon T3i and love it. I use it as my walkaround lens.

Sigma makes lenses to fit several brands of camera. Make sure you get one that fits Canon and you'll be fine.

Honestly though, Canon makes better glass. But sometimes you have to sacrifice quality for budget.

I would opt for a Tamron. It's a much sharper lens and made better than Sigma. Just saw a TAMRON 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD IF CANON T2i T3i XSi 60d T4i T5i 6 YEAR USA WARRANTY on e-bay for $769.
