Considering that most of those Middle Eastern countries still live in Stone-Age like conditions, I don't see how Algebra has helped them that much...
Also, as the video explains, the number symbols we currently use are Hindi based, since the "original" Arabic number symbols were easily "edited" resulting in much thievery.
