A friend brought me these two Saddleback Caterpillars. She found one of them the hard way - these things can sting you worse than a hornet apparently. The barbs and colors keep predators away...except a parasitic wasp. The wasp finds caterpillars and stings them, laying eggs in them, the eggs hatch and make cocoons, and after a few days will completely hatch into wasps to immediately start looking for more caterpillars. What goes around comes around I guess.
Took these with my 60d and 100 macro, and speedlight with diffuser, and a couple other lights around. Didn't bother posting in the macro section cause I have no clue what I'm doing.
Really interesting critters they are! Beautiful too. C&C welcome cause I'm still learning!
Stickers all over!
Side shot...this and the one above are the alive one.
In your face! This is the front end of business!
Cocoons all over this guy...but he doesn't know it.
Nice close-ups! Interesting study.

Thanks Nikonian! I appreciate your suggestions from your other posts... This time round I shot these at F18 I think...remembering from other times your suggestions were to try to get it up there around F16 to F22, or so.
Yeah, these are really neat! Good job!

Real nice shots of Mother Nature at works.
Looks like a caterpillar designed by a committee!

Thanks Bob! And, in my line of work, I can appreciate the committee part!
