This senior asked to removed the small amount of braces showing on the side of her mouth. I've tried using the clone tool and spot healing tool to no avail. It looks very fake to me. Any ideas of other tools to try?
Feel free to edit the picture. I am not looking for someone to 'fix' this for me, so if you choose to try something, please share what you did. I would like to to learn the best way to remove the braces with a natural look.
Thanks in advance for any help!
When I look at this picture using the histogram the first thing I notice is the spike in red... This needs to be corrected, I think you went overboard on it trying to get a color match with the dress... It just does not work.
As to the braces, use a small brush and 'paint them' using the clone feature, IF it exists in photo Elements.
I've never seen braces on such few teeth. Must be a new procedure orthodontists are using these days.
The only way I can think of to try and fix this is to select the tooth on the other side of her mouth and copy on a new layer, mirror it, resize it, reduce the opacity, move over the tooth with a band, resize it to perfectly fit, bring the opacity back up, and match the color to the other teeth. Repeat on the other teeth. It's a complicated process.
I decided to try with it with simple painting them off. I found out it's not that simple though. I used several empty layers and played with the opacity and blending modes but it's still not perfect.

OK, I'll admit it. I'm a dirty old man. Who's looking at her teeth?

Take some lessons in Elements.
try adding a small pair of needle nosed pliers.

I took a shot at it.
I took her left side teeth in the area of the braces and copied / pasted them to the right...flipped them over..and then just resized/skewed them until they fit..then did a little touch up.

corrected red shift, braces and blemishes.
She is a beautiful girl and I love the pose. After the teeth, there is just one other area I would try to fix - this is where my feminine vanity pops up: with the liquify tool, smooth out the bump in the hip area a bit.
If you like, I can show you what I mean, when I have access to my computer, I'm not at home right now.

And now it is greenish... The color bias was likely introduced when the picture was edited BEFORE posting and it makes it difficult to adjust the color balance except if using masks and layers...

Next time, please post the original picture. A D300 takes better pictures than that.
Everyone - thanks for your feedback; I appreciate it!

Did a copy and paste from the right side of her teeth to the left. Rotated, stretched and matched to fit. Moved the dress on her right hip in a little using PS11 and then did some face smoothing with Portrait Professional 11
