Asking UH members re thier prefarred means of mounting prints on card. I'm from the film neg' era & am use to using heat/shellac sheets, attempted same with inkjet glossy paper & blistered the print.

3m makes a double sided film(sorry but I would have to go to our club to get the numbers), and you use a special plastic sheet to apply it and press it down- works great not sure of the price either but it works good - no bubbles and it is forever. Photo supply places should be able to give you the prices. I realize this is vague but it does work and it is available.

Did you use any type of release paper or board between the print and the heat press? I've mounted quite a few inkjets using a heat press and have never seen any damage. Actually I think they look better after being mounted this way on archival matboard because the print takes on the matboard's texture.

Edit: Also, what temperature are you using on your heat press?

I use double sided tape to mount prints on cards.

Are you talking about note cards? If you are, maybe someone out there can help me...what do you charge for a 4x5 print on 5x7 cards? I'm thinking maybe around $2.50 to $3.00??

I use foam core with a liquid adhesive by Daige bought from Blick Art Supply. Gives about 5 minutes working time, I over size the foam core then trim to correct margins after mounting so I don't worry about exact centering just close enough.

Hmmm I Know What Your Going Through. I Have Always Had An Outside Lab Such As Millers to Both Print And Mount ,Because If They screw up mounting They have to Reprint free. You Also Get A variety Of Substrates To Mount to That You Could Never Afford to stock your self. Simply Color In Akron Ohio Has A Really Neat Product That Allows Wood Grain to Show Through As Well As Metallic And Metal Mounting. Most Of These Use A Cold Process.
Using A Greg Press And Morgan Adhesives. The Press Alone Cost Over $30,000.00 Filmet Color Labs, Here In Pittsburgh Pa. Can Print As long As 25 Foot Of In 50 Inch Strips. But Small Images Are no problem. They Also can FACE Mount to Plexiglass With Optically Clear Adhesives. Check These Places Out.Ad Some Bling To The Thing!

Beware of spray mount adhesives. They will sometimes bubble in places after hanging for a couple of decades. Especially if near a fireplace. If you do use them be sure and sparay both surfaces well and press together hard with a roller.
