Thank you for the info. I, too, hope we have nice weather. The packing seems to be the hardest part right now, with such variables in temp, etc. Very excited though! Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Question about buying an iPad mini to use with my Canon T2i. I have read getting the proper cable will allow me to import my photos to the iPad mini.
My real question - once my images are loaded, a screen appears asking if I want to keep the images or delete them. When downloaded to my lap top I usually delete them. However while on vacation I want to primarily use an iPad mini to check the quality of images. If I keep the images on my sim card will they remain there? Ultimately I want to import the images directly to my laptop when I return home - will that work and allow me to keep the number of photos on the iPad to a minimum?
Thanks Paul

When importing to my iPad or PC, I always choose keep, that keeps it on the camera. If you hit delete, they will get dumped from the camera.
To delete from the iPad, view the picture and hit the trash can. You can also view an album (through the Photos app), hit edit, select what you want to toss and then hit the delete button.
If viewing albums, you can delete a whole album in a similar fashion. Be careful.
Thank you Rocket Science.
So if I understand correctly - after importing the images to iPad and choose not to delete the images, I will place my sim card back in the camera and export my images to my laptop after returning home - everything will load into my laptop's iPhoto program just as before using an iPad? If so, this is exactly what I want to happen. I really want to just check the quality of my photos on the iPad while I'm on vacation, and save them on my laptop when I return home.
Thanks,
Paul
Why don't you try it with some test photos before leaving. That way you will be comfortable with the process?
I have uploaded successfully to my original iPad using the Apple connector, as others have mentioned. But with a 4-day photography workshop coming up next month, I'm going to need to store and view hundreds of images a day, too many for the iPad. I use a desktop compuer at home, never needed a laptop, so I just bought an inexpensive netbook to take on this and future trips. With Photoshop Elements installed, I should have the storage, communication, and viewing functions I need. And it's the same size screen as the iPad, so packing it won't be a problem. Just another option for you.
I bought a camera connection kit for my ipad mini for $4.95 with free shipping on ebay. Works great. Use it all the time.
