A known DJ in my area wants me to take headshots of guests as they enter his cd launch party. the gimmick is they will be asked to hold a bow-tie up to their neck , it's his signature look.

I know by shooting tethered I can import with settings already applied 2 clicks in lightroom 4 to export.

minimise LR have email running underneath, ask the person's email add attach the pic which will be ready in less than 1 min zap gone........next person

the prob is he wants the email adds in a database that he can access later..
I have an old macbook and a regular gmail account
thank you in advance

Why not open your 'sent mail folder' when the evening is done, Forward them to your client... or Copy all those email addresses and paste on a new e-mail to your client.

Blind copy the client on each email as it goes out. Or upcharge for data entry fees!

Retrieving e-mail addies you've used is easy enough. What I would like to know if I were the customer, is: What are you going to do with the e-mail addies? Will the customer know that not only you, the photographer, have the address on your computer, but that you will be passing them on to the DJ as well?
I would be very (fill in your own term) if I discovered after the fact that my e-mail address had been shared with anyone else without my knowledge.

If your client is not going to provide a disclosure about retention and use of the email address collected, he should talk to an attorney for such. If he is asking you to provide him the email addresses and pooh poohing the disclosure aspect, the liability may fall to you and you should talk to an attorney.

It should be quite obvious in today's market place that either the DJ or you should disclose the fact that the eMail will be added to a database given to the DJ, for future use by the DJ (undoubtedly for marketing reasons)

The mechanics of this activity should be left until legal requirements are sorted out. My assumption would be that retention of the names for a data base will not be possible without some form of disclosure.

If the bottom line is that you have to protect yourself as far as disclosure of use of the email address, then the next point is how the "client" (the dj) receives the information if required. Will he still contract you for this activity.

This seems one of those cases where the DJ may just choose to use a high mp cell phone and send the pics via email and therefore retain the address without disclosure about his intended use.

Very sketchy if that happens, with all the emphasis on controlling identity theft these days.

OTOH, it seems to be a trend in retail and business's, and who knows how many companies are adhering to any legal constraints. That takes one unhappy customer and a lawyer willing take legal action.

I'd be professional, legal and bonded in matters like this, if I were getting paid (or not).

My disclosure: Let me make it clear that this post in no way constitutes legal advice, nor am I an attorney. I am simply putting forth anecdotal information as I see the possibilities arising from this activity.

Don't overlook the fact that you may also for your own sake need to get model releases from every person you snap pictures of. :hunf:
