I have just purchased the SX 50. I would like recommendations of good online photo courses. I have some basic knowledge with DSLR, but would like to start with good basic information. Many thanks

I am an absolute newbie, having purchased a dslr only a few short months ago, but have been able to quickly learn and have taken some wonderful images by reading all the articles posted on digitalphotographyschool.com. It is totally free and they have searchable archives for almost any subject matter you may have questions about, plus some you would never think of.

Learn and Master Photography by Vince Wallace. Will teach
photography techniques while teaching you how to use all the
features of your DSLR. Also, hard copy books by Bryan
Peterson, starting with Understanding Exposure.

If you are looking for canon SX50 tutorial only try YouTube video Canon PowerShot SX50 HS FULL REVIEW - PT 1, Canon SX50 REVIEW - PT 2 There are several. There are numerous.

Kathy Adams Clark is an excellent teacher in the Houston area. I have taken three of her courses. Her basic photography course is available in kindel edition from Amazon for $8. http://www.amazon.com/Photographing-Kathy-Adams-Photography-ebook/dp/B00AY3ZDLE/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1377547916&sr=1-4&keywords=Kathy+adam+Clark The book is self published and there are a few typos/formating errors which may be distracting to some. It is short and to the point.

There was another thread awhile back (can't find it!) wherein most users recommended utilizing all the free online information first. Even library books written for film cameras offer great information about composition and exposure.

Whuff; Found it! Here is the link for the OP. Also, there are lots of free information on you-tube. Camera, lighting, flash, composition, etc.
SukieJ, you could spend weeks on just that alone. Good luck and keep reading, watching and asking questions.

One of the best free runs of video lessons (IMHO) comes from Mike Brown. He presents his lessons in a fascinating, humorous and inspiring manner. His enthusiasm is contagious.
Every time I watch one of his videos, I end up picking up my camera during or immediately after.

Welcome to the Hog Sukie. There are some excellent books for Canon that you can get as digital media or search Amazon. com for them. Also as has been mentioned Learn and Master Photography by Vince Wallace is a nice course on dvd.

I shoot a Nikon D7000 but just picked up a SX 50 as a spare 2nd camera, very impressed with it. Its does an amazing job on telephoto and macro shots and is nice and lite to keep with me all the time.
