Camera Strap

I found that when out on a long walk with my camera around my neck and a backpack on, my neck started to hurt after a short time so I came up with the idea to sew a loop a hook on the handle of my backpack and attach the camera strap to this and they counter balance each other so I can go for the good long walks and don't even know I have the strap around my neck.

I have a Domke photo vest that has "D" rings sewn on each side of the front near the top, I use the OP/Tech harness so I just bought 2 extension straps from them and attached them to the vest "D" rings and then they simply clip to the short clips already on the camera. I still get some pull on the back or the neck but nowhere near as much as with a conventional neck strap. The harness by itself is still the best thing I have ever found, no neck pain/strain at all. The straps can also be attached to the shoulder straps of a backpack.

Hi when using my shoulder harness I have a strap down to a belt that keeps it held back so as there is no pressure on my neck

I have a belt which I clip around my waist. On it, in the front, I have attached a wide velcro band which I fasten around the lens of my camera. The camera strap is around my neck but it is loose as the belt takes the weight and also holds the camera close.

I am just about to do a 500km bike ride down beside the Danube from Linz to Budapest and I can use this belt while riding. If I see something to photograph I just stop and quickly slip the camera out of its "nest" and shoot. Hope you can follow this!

It is a very simple strap with a clip and the circular part in the front is wide velcroe with the soft part that goes around the lens and the hard "catchey" part goes on the outside.

I haven't attached photos before so I hope this works. I am leaving tomorrow so won't be able to correspond with anyone. Sorry!

I think the velcroe part came from an old leg strap from a surf board.

The first one is on the back pack and the belt support for the harness

I use these for my cameras:

I carry two cameras with these straps around my neck for hours.

In addition, when doing photography, one must man up to the physical demands.

After working on site for 50 years I've maned up all I need to, so I go for comfort not style
