My OpTec harnesses- I have two- an older single and a new dual - convert quickly strap to a hand - darn handy.
I'm buying the dual harness OpTech. How does it "convert quickly strap to a hand?" Please show picture.

Interesting, but I think I'll keep my OpTech sling strap.
I will second that on the Op/Tech sling strap. Love mine. 8-)

JR1: Please show pictures of your small cable tie and tie in use. I think it may be good to prevent
1. thief using knife to cut straps
2. fall if straps breaks
Sorry for rubbish shot all other cameras set for photoshoot used cheap bridge
here I hope you can see the cable tie running between both clips they will not come apart
Never tried those, but am quite happy with the Black Rapid straps. They are simple, but extremely well made and allow you to easily carry most any (or 2) DSLRs with big lenses and without breaking your neck.

I clearly don't love them.....in fact I never attach them when setting up a new camera. They get hooked on something and have caused more harm than good over the years. But.......REALLY RIGHT STUFF (B2 FABN) has released a new product that attaches to your camera strap (the strap does not attach to your camera)....and you can then clamp on your camera when and if you want....or remove when you want. The strap stays around your neck most of the time with no camera attached. You can then attach your camera only if you need both hands to do something else. Pretty cool.

$70.00, does money grow on trees?
Take a look at Really Right Stuff pricing. That's one of the least expensive things they make. Their products have a reputation for excellence, though.
JR1, please excuse my ignorance. I like your idea of using cable ties for security. They must be reconnected every time you go out for a shoot with the camera and strap, correct? You don't disconnect then reconnect with the cable ties, I'm assuming. Thank you for the photo of your set up, by the way.

Well it is going to be the lesser of too evils. Camera straps and all the grief they bring or a damaged/dead camera from hitting the ground. Personally, I will take the strap every time or the latter.

That's pretty expensive and looks pretty complicated and bulky. Has anyone seen a simple ring that hooks on the camera that allows you to simply clip the strap on and off as needed?
Yes, Op/tech straps and harnesses with Uni-loops.
