I have PaintShop Pro X4. I'm working with it but, not an expert. Today I saw in Target, PaintShop Pro X5 for $39.99 less 5% discount. Is X5 a lot better than X4 to make me expend $38.00. What are the main differences between them :?:
Thanks

Why wouldn't you just go to the Corel website and upgrade your current version to the new one. It's so cheap that I wouldn't hesitate.

I suspect X6 is coming soon. You might want to wait so you get all the latest bug fixes and RAW compatibility with the latest cameras. I had X2, X3, X4, and X5. There were drastic changes between X2 and X3. X3 had problems and would just suddenly quit working and you couldn't reinstall it to get it going again. Mine did that and I had to fall back to X2 until X4 came out. Then the problem was gone. X5 came out and I upgraded but it really wasn't a whole lot different.

I have used X2, X3, X4 and X5, all in the Ultimate version. X5 has improvements in the bells and whistles areas. The HDR function is a little better and things like the clone tool and selection tools, etc have been improved. X5 also has some smart presets for application to your photos. They need improvement though. X4 is a good version and works well. If I were you and I didn't use a lot of the fancy stuff, I would wait for X6. When you do upgrade, be it X5 or X6, be sure to get the Ultimate version. It comes with NIK Efex Pro 3 plugins which are extremely useful. Have fun and keep learning. Paintshop Pro is pretty powerful. I love it and find I don't need much more than Paintshop Pro Ultimate. As suggested in a previous post, I would go directly to Corel to upgrade. Their prices are very competitive. And, check me out, but, I think the versions available at Target and Walmart are not the Ultimate versions. Have a GREAT DAY.

Just moments ago, I received an email from Corel that X6 ultimate is launching for $59.99.

The release of PSP X6 is a "pre-release" of the new version available for current registered owners. The "public" release will be early September. The email mentions that the offer is good only until Sept 3 so you can guess that the public release will be right after that.

Corel must have a spycam in my monitor! After writing my response last night, this morning I got an announcement for Paintshop Pro X6. Upgrade available until September 3rd for $59.

I got the same e-mail. Paintshop Pro X6 and X6 Ultimate will be available for download to the general public on September 4, 2013. It is not available yet at the Corel site. Here is a link to a pdf file comparing the different versions of PSP.

X6 and X6 Ultimate are available for to those who are presently registered users of X5 or X5 Ultimate (I am not sure about users of versions previous to X5) from now through September 4 as a prelaunch download. If you are eligible for prelaunch download you should have received an e-mail from Corel inviting you to download the new X6 or X6 Ultimate. Again, X6 is not available for download at the Corel site yet. Only through a link sent to eligible registered users in an e-mail.
