The second shot of mine was in a place called White Pockets. This shot is just south of Page at the bend in the Colorado River. It was as close as I could get to the edge....I have vertigo, and tried to crawl on my hands and knees on the sandstone.....not advisable in shorts. There is lots and lots of "eye candy" in the SW.
I like it! Was at Page for a week, but didn't make it to White Pockets, I'll have to go next time I'm down that way!

it's called Horseshoe Bend. don't blame you for the vertigo... it's 1100 feet straight down, and no railing!
Squirl033, maybe you belonged to the feet that I saw standing next to me at the Horseshoe Bend...that person made it to the edge. Thanks for letting me see what it was that I would have seen had I gotten to the edge. Wright1...White Pockets is in Coyote Buttes South, in case you don't know that on BLM land. Don't need to get into a lottery like you do for The Wave. I hired someone to take me in, because I didn't have 4 wheel drive and we went in off House Rock Valley Road from Rt 89 at Vermillion Cliffs. I would love to go back someday, as it was quite overwhelming. The next time, if there is one, I will be more slective of what my shots are.
It's really amazing that you can find so much beauty in rock formations in that part of the country.
Here are some more from White Pockets. You cannot really appreciate the rock colors and shapes until you see them in person, and then somtimes pictures just can't capture the experience.
The Teepe's
Banded Sandstone
Closeup of some of the colored veins and "roses" made of some sort of mineral

A couple more from my trip to the Navajo reservation, what do you think? Do you have any good canyon pictures?
I would give everything I ever owned to live in that fabulous residence (the first pic) and wisk Theresa off to live and take pictures here.

These have to be some of the finest photographs of this fabulous place. Thanks so much for brightening up my late evening.

the colors seem a little flat... perhaps it was a dull, cloudy day, but usually the colors in that part of the country are pretty vivid.
here are some of my shots from that part of the world...
Incredible pic of Antelope Canyon. Thanks
Ian
Love the pictures from the inside of the Canyon. I am extremely jealous.....have been there two times, but not had the time or opportunity to get inside the canyon. Next trip will be made with the express purpose of exploring the canyon bottom, and going into Monument Valley (the first time for MV it was raining, the second time there was a horrible dust storm). Here are some more pictures of Canyon DeChelly
Ruins at the base of the cliff
Spider Rock
Thanks Ian, "White" Pockets is a magical place, although with all the color, don't know why they called it white. I have told my friends that if I die before them, I want my ashes scattered there....surrounded by beauty...what better place to spend eternity.
