AND WE THINK WE'VE GOT IT BAD!
This was a mere 72 years ago....
Makes complaining about no cell service, high gasoline prices, not
enough cable channels, seem a bit ludicrous.
I am reminded to be grateful for what I do have .....
Start each day with a smile and a prayer ... then pass it on
In many ways, the good old days weren't so good. These are great pics.
Sorry for so many photos but they were all so touching had to upload them all ..... Thank you donrent for sharing.

In almost EVERY way, they weren't. The Great Depression was a world-wide economic calamity. The current troubles are certainly no picnic for people caught up in them but the 1930s were hell on earth for a lot of people, and then for much of Europe, the early 1940s were no picnic either. The 1890s, 1870s, 1830s, 1760s, 1730s, 1660s and so on all had their own particular brands of nasty as well. If you think Aptiva-deficient bowel movements are nasty, try cholera and dysentery.
Very evocative pictures. It's interesting how the B&W makes them even more gripping. I've seen color shots from the same period, with the same subjects, and they somehow don't look so awful....
Stunning! Thank you for posting these.
Every picture truly does tell a story. . . Gosh what a hard time.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for these great pictures.

What a great set of photographs of our not so wonderful History. However, look at the sharpness and general quality of each and everyone of these remarkable photographs. Thanks for all the effort that you must have put into preparing the photographs for us to enjoy.

Yeah it was really tedious to save them from email LOL. I didn't do anything beyond that.
Thanks Photogirl for putting these on for me...
These were sent to me by a life long friend and I thought that they were a fantastic study in Black and White... Someday, perhaps digital will be able to equal film ....
Just a guess, but I'd lay a bet that the camera used was a Leica....
Wow every pic is fantastic,,,thanks for posting,Kenny

Its possible Don. Those WPA Photographers (Dorothea Lange, etc) were outfitted with Large Format or Field Cameras as well as the handhelds of the day...usually German or Swiss stuff.
