You have allot more faith in that waterproof case then I would, I'm even nervous when using it in the rain. I enjoyed you video, the first one was a little to short about 60 seconds. LOL Bill
Like you I was a bit skeptical so the first thing i did before taking pictures was to take the empty housing down as far as i could (about 20 fr. ) several times before i used it with the camera in it.
I have used it several times since i took these videos and it worked fine however like you I'm never quite sure I won't come up with a flooded camera.
I use it more on the front of the car, and on my UTV (like an ATV) when I'm out in the desert. Great little camera.
I have been thinking about buying a Hero 3 for some time now but have been put off by a lot of the negative reviews I have been reading about. 1. hanging/freezing up. 2. poor battery life, etc. Are you guys having any issues with your cameras? How long have you had yours?
Mine isn't the 3 I have the Hero 2 - I think it takes a great video for. I use a 4 Gig SD and the card gets filled before battery runs down. I get about 1.5 hours on the SD. I don't use Full HD. To record in Full HD, unless you have a Blue Ray Burner, and Blue Ray Player, your wasting you time and Space.
You would be amazed at amount of GoPro that is out there on commercial TV. They seem to strapping them on all the action scenes and on the dash. On the insdie and out side of cars. If it's good enough for them. It's good enough for me. I use it when I have to cover a dedication, I stick right on the Podium looking right in the speakers face. They like it because its not even noticalbe. about 4 years in my ditty bag. JM2Cents.
Note: I had to replace the outside Water Proof case, when I had it attached to a Radio Controled Helicopter that did a nose dive from about 100 to 150 feet in the air. I though it was a goner. But still chugs away.

Thank you so much for your feedback. The reviews I looked at were for the Black Hero 3. It really looks like a fun camera. Have you done any timelaspe with it?
No, but tried it on the front of my ATV (side x side). I got a lot of vibration (harmonics) from the motor. So I never put it on You Tube. I was out in the Desert in Quartzsite AZ. Going up to Preachers Pass. Considered on of the more challenging trails. They only air lift (life flight) three people a year out of there so I'm told. It's one place my wife will never go again, from a long list of places she has crossed off. LOL
I think hanging and freezing take place when you attempt to view a video taken in high resolution with a processor that is too slow. The fix is to use a lower setting on the gopro camera or convert it to a lower resolution with a program like Format Factory. You can also view it on a TV with the HDMI port.
I haven't tried time lapse yet. One of the problems with this and close up is framing, since the gopro has no view finder or preview screen. (there is a preview screen is available as an accessory back.)
The gopro app. solves this and lets you use any device that supports wi fi as a preview screen.
