Mt. Hood Photos
I am staying in King City, OR today and would like to know if any one knows where a good location is to take a long lens photo of Mt. Hood at sunset without driving 70 miles to the location. Thanks in advance.
One of the best vantage points for shooting Mt. Hood is from Lost Lake which is located on the N.W. side of the mountain. It takes a little rough driving to get to the lake, but the view of the mountain behind Lost Lake is not to be missed. Late afternoon/evening shots would be best.
Also great view from Mirror Lake, south of Mount Hood. Sorry, but if you want really spectacular views of Mt Hood, you're going to have to drive 75-90 miles from King City. The mountain is visible even from Portland, where it's a popular background, e.g., downtown Portland from "suicide bridge" with Hood in the background, but otherwise your're going to have to drive it or have a really long lens. Enjoy the drive. :)
Just be happy that you are in Oregon. It's one of my favorite states for photography buffs.
rrg, I'm only going to suggest that if you can, juxtapose the shot with something else. Such as wild flowers, a bridge or kids playing in the foreground. Otherwise, it's just another shot of the mountain. SS
thanks...on our way to Pittock Mansion. Hoping to see the mount from there.
Trillium Lake, especially sunrise. Then you can catch some fly fisherman and wildlife.
