Hey there follow hedgehogs. I am joining a shooting a tennis match seminar next week I wanted to know if the nikon d2xs is better than the Nikon d300s for shooting sport action photography. What lens would I need as well.
The d300s and a d7000 would be better again.
The lens, how far away will you be and are you inside or outside. Those things impact greatly on lens choice as does your budget, possibly.

With adequate light, the D300 is excellent. It is not as good for low light events, however. Paired up with a 70-200 2.8, I would be comfortable with that. Monopod can help as well.
I am also looking at the d7000 just wondering if its fast enough for action shoots

The D7000 buffer fills faster than the 300 leaving you waiting if you are using the spray and pray method.
The D2X was built for speed...eight years ago. I would go for the newer D300s, although the fastest shutter speeds are the same in both cameras...1/8000 of a second, you will get slightly better image quality out of the D300s. As far as the lens, that's up to you.

Any good DSLR is fast enough for sports shots if you use the decisive moment method.
Personally, I don't use the spray and pray method, you have no idea whether you will get a worthwhile image until after the event.
Of course, there are times when multiple frames fit the bill.
