I'm currently on a trip in Michigan visiting some family, and while switching my photo SD card and dummy SD slot holder, my holder card has gotten stuck in the reader. It's in the right way, and it usually pops out when you push it in, but it's not complying at the moment, and as seen in the pictures, is quite far in without ejecting. I don't mind if this slot holder gets busted, but I don't have another working computer and am running out of SD space. Any tips on getting it out? It won't push in any further (I've used pens, fingers, and q-tips to try and push it in), and I don't have any room on the edges to fit in any tweezers (you can see in the picture how tight the reader is). Not sure if the spring is broken or if something else is in there. Any guesses? Might have to take my poor computer apart soon. Anyone else had this issue? And what did you do in that situation? Any feedback is appreciated.

A piece of plastic, with a SMALL drop of super glue on it. Insert into slot, attach to sd card, withdraw. Carefully remove plastic from sd card.

All guesses -
- Have you turned the PC on edge and gave it a shake?
- Have you rocked the card back and forth, not in and out, trying to activate the spring?
- In the toolbar by the clock can you click on the little flash drive symbol with the green check mark and choose - Eject (whatever shows here) This will not release the card, but with a Reboot may trigger the internal mechanism to reset Unlikely, but worth a try.
- Can you wedge something like a butter knife or small nail file up and over the card to lightly pry it out?

At the worst, you can either;
- take something, like a popsicle, and add a little (as in little) superglue to the end applying it to the card so you can pull it out. Please Be Very Careful With This One - No Drips
- or, remove the screws and see if you can get it out

By the way, this seems to be more common than you think so No More Putting The Dummy Card Back In.

Good luck and keep us informed. S-

If all else fails, you can always get a UBS SD Card reader at almost any place that sells the cards.

I love those cameras, no wonder your photo's are excellent!

and the wide angle lens makes the camera so light you can
carry it every where, Kool.

Glad you got rid of the old one, what were you using
before anyways?

But the SD card is still stuck in the computer.

Try applying a vacuum cleaner hose to it.
Put a cloth across the end of the hose to catch the blank card.

Doesn't matter, a card adapter would use an USB port, not the built in SD card reader.

True. True. So then we are going to write-off the card that's stuck in the computer? I guess if the computer can still read the card he can then at least save them to the computer if he hasn't already. SD cards are cheap.

If you are nervous about opening up the laptop to see if you can reach the stuck card from inside, why not stop by a local, hands-on PC shop and give them a shot.

If you do try it yourself, make sure the battery is removed first and ground yourself to remove any static charge you may be carrying. And remember the order of the screws you remove... they won't all be the same size.
