The Nikon D800 manual has 472 pages. My D600 manual has 368 pages. The Kodak Brownie 127 manual had about 7 pages. Oh, how times have changed.

And you get to print them today, maybe still printing tomorrow.

I think it's interesting that they thought they had to print all those directions.

I'd like to see them make it easy to remove the languages you don't need, so it would make the book smaller.

The worst are those large fold out sheets with everything printed in a dozen languages.

If your Canon does not come with a manual, you can call Canon and they will print it for you, and ship it at no cost to you.
At least that's what they've told me. All my cameras have come with one, so some still do. Don't know what I would do without one. SS

Nikon d7100 has a very nice printed manual - but I prefer the PDF version - which is searchable !!!! great. Sometimes it's difficult to find what you want in the printed version.

I agree The PDF versions are better since they are searchable. I keep mine in Dropbox so they are handy no matter where I am

One of my best $5 ever spent was for Staples to convert my 5DM3 manual into a spiral style binding....no longer requiring me to hold the book open with my elbow while simultaneously reading and adjusting my camera. Also easy way to ditch all those excessive foreign language pages and retain a neat, compact book.

So you just gave them the book and told them to bind the pages? Being able to open and lie flat would be a good selling point for aftermarket manuals.

Nat Coalson in his LR 4 book advises that you go and get it converted into a spiral type binding which I did for $6

Absolutely. Last one in for my RX100 took 4 minutes. I give them the book, ask for a spiral binder to be inserted and presto --- it's done. Canon and others could do us all a big favor by shipping them this way in the first place!

Is that the actual spiral wire or the plastic binding? I have a machine that does the plastic binding, and that comes in very handy. Within a few minutes, I can bind pages together, and it makes them much easier to store and use.

It's plastic and probably more user friendly than the original wire. Works like a charm and it's always amazed me that more folks haven't put 2 and 2 together had it done.
