It seems that most people hated veitnam vets back then and still do so now. It is sad ti think that we served our time there and lost our comrads there so fredom could be kept. People coming back from todays wars are treated like heros. We were spit on and called names and employeers would not hire us. We sevived inspite of that. So to say get over it is like saying that all humans should get over it when their family die. I have a flag in a case that I saw in a thrift shop that was given to them cause the family didn't want it. I don't know who's it is but I display it with a note say it belonged to a brave service member who payed the ultimite price for our freedom. Yes I was in a marine in veitnam and my daughters are very proud of that. To bad thay are the only ones who are.

You NEVER get over the senseless deaths of those who served our country willingly and unquestionably.

To emphasize this point, I suggest you visit the several memorials ( in Washington D.C.) to those who served and died.

And when you're done there, take a slow walk through a V-A Hospital; there's one near you wherever you are.

And by the way, Where and when did you serve sundancer2004?

1969-1970 RVN, and I have visited the wall as well as she'd a tear or to remembering my friends that did not come home. They were men among men So perhaps you sanctimonious SOB, you should think twice before assuming.

Welcome Home Brother. Many did not understand us but we do and we need to be patient with the others and keep the high ground as we always have.

1960's I was in grade school. I don't remember much but the funeral. I think I was in fourth grade. I remember those
Thursday or Friday reports they would give on the radio with the body counts. Do you remember those?

thanks for remembering many your age do not and know nothing about that time and the thirty somethings are in the same boat. Please remember the Korean War vets as well as they are the forgotten ones.

The way that our service men and women were treated upon their return from 'Nam was probably the most shameful period in our history. I served in the Air Force on the other side of the world in '68 and was proud as hell of those that were in 'Nam, I still am.

I never enlisted and was not required to register with the selective service as was 18 in 1976. I scored very high on the test given to high school students and was dogged by recruiters until I was about 28.

So, that would make you a... (?) because you never served, unlike Wayne LaPierre who didn't serve because of a nervous Disorder. You do not need a war going on to serve your country. You could have joined anytime after your 18th birthday. Yes I did serve in the Navy and volunteered for a tour in Da Nang.
