I lost a cousin and two friends in that war...
What are you trying to say: that he is to unstable to have an opinion or to do his job?
My brother got a deferment when he tried to join the army. Since his spleen was removed he could not join. The Army thought it a big deal, my brother didn't. 4F!
A nervous disorder is not a mental disorder. Posting nonsense about guns and the NRA is a mental disorder.

You're correct a nervous disorder is NOT a mental disorder...it makes HIM A COWARD...A WEAK MINDED SNIVELING LITTLE COWARD that got a gun fetish. That's my point.

The point should be that the information depicted in the second pasted photo is conjecture, so it is folly to attempt to discuss or debate it. 8-)

I have a rather unique position in my father's family. My father was the second youngest of 13 children and he was born in 1921. My sister age 68, brother age 65 and I age 55 are the last surviving grandchildren from my fathers parents as all of our other cousins are dead. I have many second cousins most are retired. I moved away in my 20's and have not kept in touch.
My paternal grandfather died in 1942 at the age of 67. As was the custom of the hill people of Western Pennsylvania his wife my grandmother died in 1974 at the age of 101. As to the family...I lost two I never knew uncles in WWII, two first cousins I never knew in Korea, and a cousin in Vietnam. I had at least two second cousins that served in Vietnam.
I never enlisted and was not required to register with the selective service as was 18 in 1976. I scored very high on the test given to high school students and was dogged by recruiters until I was about 28.

1960's I was in grade school. I don't remember much but the funeral. I think I was in fourth grade. I remember those
Thursday or Friday reports they would give on the radio with the body counts. Do you remember those?
More than forty years ago.......get over it

You NEVER get over the senseless deaths of those who served our country willingly and unquestionably.
To emphasize this point, I suggest you visit the several memorials ( in Washington D.C.) to those who served and died.
And when you're done there, take a slow walk through a V-A Hospital; there's one near you wherever you are.
And by the way, Where and when did you serve sundancer2004?

As far as deferments go, let us not forget our former Vice President, Dick Cheney. I think he received at least 3 to stay out of the military and Viet Nam.
Yeah, I diverted the subject, but it's relevant ain't it.
It seems that most people hated veitnam vets back then and still do so now. It is sad ti think that we served our time there and lost our comrads there so fredom could be kept. People coming back from todays wars are treated like heros. We were spit on and called names and employeers would not hire us. We sevived inspite of that. So to say get over it is like saying that all humans should get over it when their family die. I have a flag in a case that I saw in a thrift shop that was given to them cause the family didn't want it. I don't know who's it is but I display it with a note say it belonged to a brave service member who payed the ultimite price for our freedom. Yes I was in a marine in veitnam and my daughters are very proud of that. To bad thay are the only ones who are.
