Hello everyone, this is my first post here.
Does anyone know of a good way to (in studio) teather my nikon to my ipad when shooting a client? I know there is a $500 way using nikon hardware but surely there has to be a less expensive way. Any thoughts?

Looks like if you are staying in studio you can go for a cheaper model sd pro card

The EyeFi card can transfer you shots to the iPad as you take them and the basic model is quite cheap. Only works if your camera takes SD cards though. It works by sending the files by wireless so you don't actually need a cable to tether. Check out the webste www.eyefi.com to see if it will work with your camera.

Thanks for the reply. I have spent some time looking at the link that you sahred but don't think it will work with my camera. I use the D700 and it is a compact flash card. Iread that there is an adapter that can be used however that makes it too thick for the d700

i will let you know soon enough. i am expecting to receive my adapter today from Amazon-the SD-CF ll -SD to CF Type ll adapter that supports SDHC MMC, so that I can synch the Eyfi X2 SD card to my D300 camera. i am also considering tethering my D300 photos to my Ipad wirelessly

also - if possible ~ ~ I hooked my Nikon D5000 up to a computer monitor . The monitor had a HDMI port . The Camera has a MINI hdmi port . I went to a store and bought a hdmi adapter ( radio shack ) from "hdmi X mini hdmi" . I even use it when I'm outside doing astrophotography . . . . good luck

these are on a barn door tracker but just taking timed shots , not tracking . they are about 1.6 seconds using ISO 3200 .
I let the INTERVAL TIMER run while I'm in the house . As mentioned - I use the computer monitor to adjust the focus and its worked out real nice

I do have a mini HDMI port on my D700 but I would like to go wireless to an ipad not wired to a monitor. Is that what you are doing?

yes , wired to the monitor . I think the EYE~FI sd card would be a smart choice for wireless. I d/l an app on my IPOD TOUCH , so as long as you have wifi you can do it that way to your IPAD . This is interesting indeed , please let us know how things work out for you .
