Thank you for the commentary. I couldn't agree with you more on the PP. It is just learning how to do it and do it well that I have to work on. It looks like you have mastered it.

Some are better than others in editing but few ever master it and none completely. Thank you for the comments. That's kind of you.

I agree with you totally. It is a very rare pic that doesn't need something in PP. That is not an excuse to be sloppy in the field however.

My passion is wildlife photography, so I especially appreciate your pics. Nice framing, IQ, composition, exposure, etc., etc., etc.- but really, I just like them.

Great job.

Here is one of mine from Serengeti.

Thanks for the comments Scott. I like your image of the lions, a lot. Here's a tip for you. I don't mind you adding your image to my post but that feeling isn't the same across the board. It might have been better had you submitted it as your own separate post. On this forum they call that pirating, when someone adds their own to another person's submission. Your picture then takes on a life of it's own and leaves the OP wondering why he bothered. Just a tip before the fir starts to fly around here.

Joe, you can be my wingman anytime!

PS. What does IQ stand for in photographic context?

Thank you Chinaman. I believe your question has been answered.

What I really enjoyed about this series was that you shared your thought process. I found this particularly helpful in assessing the various aspects of the photos. I hope you will share more of this kind of information as tutorials for those of us who are trying to learn. We already know you are a master of your craft, so learning how you evaluate your photos is a huge help. Thank you. -Vicki

Thank you Vicki. It's a pleasure if you get anything out of my ramblings. You're always so kind in your praise that
this is the least I can do.

I am with Joe. If you shoot raw you have PP. I don't care what you do to a photograph. I either like it or I don't. It's all in the eye of the BEER holder.

Thanks a lot Jim. Much appreciated.

This is a great post Joe. I love to photoshop, when I look at my finial print I feel I have been creative in two ways, taking the picture and then processing it. It's a lot of fun for me. Last month I took some pics of a close friends grandkids. When I looked at them on the computer I thought they were horrible, my wife looked at them and said they were beautiful. So in a way I am kinda like your wife Joe, I think all your photos are beautiful.

I leave Wednesday for Texas to see my grandkids, all the best to you.

How kind of you Michael. You always say the nicest things.
I knew that August was the big month for your visit. Enjoy it my friend and take lots of pictures of the Grandkids.

BTW Joe, your smugmug site is terrific!!! I love that tugboat picture! Or is it a fireboat, looks like smoke or just dark clouds in the background?

Thank you very much Ernie. Smugmug has just revised their format. I just finished my site last night. The boat shot is indeed a tugboat. The sky in behind was taken a long time ago of an approaching storm. The picture is a composite.
