Some very nice surfing shots. Love the first image with the person in the wave. Some of the other photographers certainly have some nice big white Canon L lenses. I love your shot of the guy under the umbrella.

Yes Ken, there was some amazing glass out there that day. I'm attaching a photo of the guy with the biggest L series glass.
No, I didn't go to the Huntington Beach competition. There is wayyyyy to many people there at that time. I really am not fond of crowds and try to avoid them whenever possible.

Those are some really nice photos, reminds me of when I used to shoot the curl at Waimea Bay (do they still use that term?). Seems like that was ages ago...wait! it was ages ago...50 years to be exact! LOL The biggest waves we get in Ft. Lauderdale are when a fat man jumps off the end of the pier. Oh well, memories are good! I especially like the cropped photo (close to the top) of the single surfer.

Well MagicFad, the term shooting the curl is about 50 years old. That is not the terms used now days. Some of the words used are these: shred, rip, slice, getting tubed, in the barrel, catching air, 360, cutback, kick out off the lip........and more!
