this looks like a nice extender for my D5000 camera... however, pretty expensive... anyone have experience with this extender. I have the standard 55-200 plus 18-55. Perhaps just buying a used longer lens makes more sense....

I have it. Love it. It won't fit those lenses. Some third-party TC's might. So do some research. I do not know what would, but then I am a lens snob who only would use a Nikon TC. :-)

Before you buy ANY extender you should know that a 1.4 will steal one stop, a 1.7 will take a stop and half, and a 2X will kill two stops. Unless you are starting with a 2.8 or MAYBE an f/4, you will almost certainly lose autofocus. The TC's are great, but in the Thesaurus under "no free lunch," is a photo of a teleconverter.

Hi Keith. I have two TCs, a Nikon, & a Sigma. Both top quality but neither will fit your lenses. Mine will only fit my two big Sigmas, which they do a great job with, albeit no AF. Earl.

Edit. Mine are 2X, not 1.4X.
