Im looking for a good n relatively easy program to edit photos. Be able to add some color to black n white photos. I love photography n see so many neat things photographers have done. Ive done photography on the side for a long time but want to do more n learn more. Unfortunately, time n money is a factor holding me from taking classes. Any help would b great. Thanks
You could start with Picasa from Google, or GIMP. For GIMP you would also want to search via Google for tutorials and help. They are both free.
Smart Photo Editor that pops up in some of the ads on UHH is a very inexpensive editor as well.
I recently bought Photoshop Elements 11 from Adobe. It's around $55.00 or so, but very good for what you are asking.

Photoshop Elements is a pretty inexpensive program and probably all you would need.
There are a ton of free classes on the internet. Take a look at
http://www.CreativeLive.com for one. The classes are free when they first air them, and they offer them at a discount if you order them early. However, for a beginner they might be a bit much, but still worth watching. You can absorb something from even classes that are to advanced.
Another great place to visit is
http://www.ShootSmarter.comYou will find an unbelievable amount of info there, and it's free.
I am sure others will contribute to providing info about many free sites too.

Be sure to go directly to the source:
http://picasa.google.comI don't think it will do spot color to a b&w, though you could do an overall tint or graduated tint. It certainly does a lot, though!

Spend $55 and get Photoshop Elements 11. Forget the free stuff with the pop up ads, etc. Elements will give you a great editor as well as an average organizer.

Photoshop Elements 11 or Lightroom 5 by Adobe.

If you are referring to Picasa, I've been using it since Google released it, and NEVER seen a pop-up ad.

Have you considered taking an on-line course? I took one in the early spring, and am very happy I did because it covered material that did not even know about. It was very reasonably priced, far lower than attending a class at a college.
GIMP is powerful but it has a steep learning curve. I would give Picasa a try first and if its functionality doesn't meet your expectations, spend a few $$ on PSE 11 or Lightroom.

Here we go again! GIMP does not have a steep learning curve. It's how the lessons are taught that matters.
Check out the tutorials here:

Download GIMP here:
