I was trimming hedges in my yard and nearly whacked this nest down! Was able to get some pics leaning out my bedroom window. I cropped the images in Photo-Paint

Busted!! I have been spotted!

I had hoped for the same but unseasonably wet weather over a week or two and the nest was empty. The babies were in the bush (at least two) and learning to fly - I could never get a shot.

Guess I have to finish trimming that hedge now! :)

The bird had a strange sound so I think y'all nailed it. "Once you’ve heard its catty mew you won’t forget it"

... thanks everybody!

Too bad... it would have been nice to have discovered them at their hatching or shortly thereafter... nice shots from your window... I have shot from my windows on occasion. :-D

Back to my grass cutting... :(

So THAT's what I keep hearing in my yard! Been wondering for years. Never seen one, however
