Great idea!

Thanks bw3, but in retrospect, I'm not the person that deserves the credit. Nikonian posted this and I think it explains a lot:

Brent, even with you great artistry, I doubt if you could improve ion this one. I love it. Your astute eye saw the possibilities and got an excellent capture. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Thanks so much Appleknocker. I was shooting the beach with a friend and after on the way home the friend asked me which photo do I think turned out the best. I told her that it was this particular shot because I knew it had great potential. In hindsight, it was the best of the day and I shot about 150 shots!

This photo is Rich with Color! Why? Simple. It's a mock HDR image. I took a photo that I really liked (because of the composition) and duplicated it twice.......once to over expose a copy and once to underexpose a copy.......then joined all three in Photomatix and this is what my final results were.............Rich with Color! It's not really HDR but in a way it is.
Dynamite bro.....I surf there on occasion with my brother and that is where I've taken most of my surf shots of my brother. Beautiful spot!!

In my way of thinking this is a real HDR.
It's a valid way to spreading the tone scale and makes for a great rendition. Good job!

Great composition & colors and a clever solution to working with moving subjects!

I had someone suggest to me setting up tripod and taking multiple shots changing the fstop ...seems pretty much the same kinda thing..would be interesting experiment to compare the two..accept I never did it the first time...ahahhaha
I don't really like the tripod.

Great idea to use this technique with moving subjects...I had not thought of that and the usefulness of the technique under those conditions...Make some RED ones...hahahha

good idea and good work.

Thanks Nan. From now on when I have moving subjects in the photo I'm just going to take one shot that is properly exposed and do this same technique. I think "Sontog" here on UHH does that with his surfing photos and they have an unusually great look about them.

Well, one thing for sure, it's never crowded! And it's very beautiful there too. Your brother is pretty lucky to have you always taking photos of him!
