Well I got my new icore 5 system. Attached is my performance rating. The graphics is a 1gb Geforce, so I'm surprised at the low rating.

Betcha it doesn't have the latest Nvidia driver and computers come not tweaked for optimum performance but optimum compatibility (lowest common denominator).
Manufacturers do not want product returns so they make them "work" to satisfy as broad a base of people as they can. Doesn't make geeks happy but satisfies the common masses.
Here's mine from an AMD Phenom II X6 Black 1100T Unlocked processor with 6 core 3.3 GHz, 16 GB DDR3 RAM, 240GB SSD, and a Nvidia FeForce GTS450 vid card.
Mine is tweaked and adjusted for max performance but is not the latest and greatest hardware - couple years old but still works faster than this old man can think...
Check your drivers and google for Windows 7 tweaks; if and only if your competent to make system changes, otherwise . . .
My performance ratings

Which nvidia Geforce card do you have. That about right for a 1gb card. I have a GeForce 620 with 1 gig and I get a 5.0 rating as well.
What kind of photos do you do? What camera, software, and what goal? A serious amateur will be OK with that system. Just my thoughts.
620 v305.29, windows 8. Should I consider a better graphics card?

I'm using driver version 314.22 on a Windows 8 machine. Why are you considering getting a different graphics card? Are you having a performance issue or are you just concerned that the windows experience results of 5.0 might be too slow. While not blazing fast, 5.0 is a respectable result for a graphics card. If you want better performance I think you'll need a higher end gaming card.

it's an overall rating
the speed of your hard drive probably lowered the number
Since Intell came out with the Ivy Bridge processors there is a graphics processor on the mother board which is fine for most graphics most people use until you get into gaming or using Photoshop and the the graphics card will take over. However your base score is determined by the lost scoring component in your computer which is the mother board graphics processor.

It was the rating for the graphics card. Generally in my experience, the overall Windows Experience rating seems to be the same as the lowest rating. Not sure if that is true 100% of the time.

Here is my i7.
Are you using a solid state hard drive? Which video card are you using?

Yes. Both drives are solid state. The processor is i7-3820 3.6 GHZ, 32 GB DDR3 1600MHZ ram. Video card is Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 1GB 16x PCIe 3.0
I tweaked it for performance in Win7 pro. It works great for photo (CS6 & others) processing and allows me to do things that tried my patience before.
It doesn't improve internet performance much. Its mostly the connection on the other end and traffic that determines internet speed.

I figured it was an ssm drive. Most hard drives usually max out at 5.9.
What is your system used for, and why i5 core?

No it is not. It's a base score.
