I agree. It should never be said. The proper ethnic name is Negro but Southern speaking whites corrupted the identification with "Nigra" to the present N word that became totally derogatory to black people. I think the use of the N word had become so negative that what was a lemon to some was made into lemonade. It is now an intimate term between blacks that excludes anyone else from using it. Words have a way of evolving and devolving. Praying that the N-word dies for lack of use.
I am trying to think of a "intimate term between" whites "that excludes everyone else from using it". Striking out. Now I am adding Orientals, Hispanics, Indians (west and east), etc. still shrinking out. I guess nobody else has been mistreated enough to get a special word. Yeah right.

Hardly. I see it for what is.

The reason you are striking out is because these "terms of endearment" were given to each group or nationality by preceding groups or nationality. Or possibly have a very old world significance. The Italians have their own terms the Irish have their own terms Puerto Ricans have their own terms, Polish,Czech, Russian,Chinese,Korean etc. However these "terms" are exclusive to each group. So it would be inappropriate for say an Irishman using one of the "reserved" words when addressing an Italian. maybe watching the movie Gangs of New York may help you with this concept.

I always call my white friends when we are chillin' and jivin' White Cracker A_ _holes. It's a term of endearment that only we can understand and use.

Parents? He was under the supervision of his father after being suspended from school for criminal activities, but his parents didn't find out about his death until two days afterward. Now they are on TV crying their eyes out and blaming that white man who isn't white. What BS.

Throw a little dark skin in that pot and tell me how American you feel.
Kid, your paranoia is showing. I was just referring to my own ethnicity as an example. Am I aware that Negroes are a minority? I was born at night, but not last night. I am quite aware of it. I was attending a high school that was 40% black before you were even a twinkle in your father's eye. I don't need a lecture on the plight of the black male in American society. How about black women? They have to contend with anti-black racism AND abuse from angry black males. Trying to raise children in an environment of drugs and gang warfare.
I marched in numerous civil rights protests and also served eight years in the US Army from 1963 to 1969. I remember separate water fountains for white and 'colored'. I remember growing up poor. Our street was paved and had sewers but a block away the streets where the blacks lived were nothing but dusty roads without 'waste management'.
I can see the progress made in race relations since the Selma marches and the civil rights movement. I am optimistic because I believe humans to be intrinsically good.
How can conditions improve for ALL Americans? Education. Education. Education. Jobs, Jobs. Jobs. Hopefully time will heal all wounds and future generations will be more color blind and there will be more opportunities for all. Lot's of hard work ahead for EVERY American.

That only proves the we are more alike than different. Yet, it's those differences that makes the work urgent. I assure you, I have no paranoia. I am however, aware of the reality of the Black experience. It is unfortunate that Black men still harbor the "breeder" mentality that creates so many fatherless children. Happily there are still strong Black men who stay in the home and raise their kids. Education is, I agree, a social imperative. Once we become more focused as job creators rather than job seekers we will become the change we dream of.
