Do you feel the reds being a bit blown are distracting? Personally, I'm quite pleased! Thanks for looking.

Gorgeous composition, butterfly in sharp focus - excellent! Blurred background colors are perfect too :)

Just curious - does the term "blown" (I assume you mean blown highlights?) apply to out of focus backgrounds?

Thank you very much! Perhaps "blown" is the wrong term here. Regarding the left reddish side of the shot, if you download the original it's just crazy "hot" maybe? I felt like it was once in a couple years background. I was stopped down all the way.

Nice shot vikinguy. I know what you mean though, the bright spots are just a bit distracting. Photo Shop has different techniques to help you mute the background a bit and you might crop just a little on the left side but what you are starting with is excellent.

As stated by others a good shot well positioned.
if you are worried about the red and have the right editor, you could select the background and adjust in level or curves etc. Can make one hell of a difference, then to remove some of the noise and bingo.

Like it! The red is not distracting from the subject. In fact it creates a nice attracting contrast.

Hope I'm not too far off base but, since your concern is that the red might be overpowering, would it be within the natural color range of the butterfly if you brought the yellow UP a bit? That might bring a sense of saturation balance to the eye.
