My Hummingbirds would no longer eat the store bought food I made, so I went online and learned how to make my own also bought a new feeder. They are now going crazy, more birds that I had before.

A particular Hummingbird caught my eye, I had never seen one like it in all the years I have lived in Southern Ca. He is red and beige, a friend told me it was a Rufous Hummingbird. He stayed still long enough for me to get some shots. Does anyone know if this is a Rufous?

Thanks, I'm glad you liked them, Hummingbirds are always hard for me, I was lucky. I am surprised to see this bird this far South.

If you're hoping for more Rufous males you'll probably see them fighting. Those "darlings" are EXTREMELY territorial. They will sit in a nearby tree and chase off any and all comers to a feeder, including little Rufouses. But the little ones are kind of smart - they'll get together is a bunch of three or four and one will stand watch while the others get a drink. Then they switch off. You got a beautiful picture.
