Yes, those area's needed more detail, but that is where a properly processed raw image (or properly exposed jpg) is needed. I too like plug-ins, but knowing how to properly use photoshop will get your further than buying a filter for every situation.
Editing a 72dpi image at 800x600 doesn't allow much latitude for pulling pixels out of thin air. it's the concept that I'm demonstrating not the perfect photo.
