Coming home from a picnic with my camera club. I spotted this doe near the road not far from our house. I didn't think she would stay long enough for me to get my camera out, but she did.

Great shots Jim, you sure got lucky, to get your camera in time

Good focus, exposure and composition, taking advantage of side/back lighting.

Yes - A great photo op. I often find these mellow creatures here as the forest is so filled with secluded homes and the deer get pretty used to us humans and our cars. I still can't resist grabbing may camera from behind the seat when the opportunity arrives for a roadside shot of the wonderful animals.
I too question the long whiskers - I have never seen any like that-
I will have to tale a close look at some of my files
Again Nice Capture

The light on your deer makes these shots extraordinary. Well done. I wonder if she realizes she has few stray whiskers.

I have a love/hate relationship with deer...love to photograph them but they have been responsible for damage to my car several times, for which I do not appreciate. ;-) Good captures, Jim. And yes, those whiskers are definitely weird.

I just checked my files on deer photos - no whiskers on any of them.

Have you tried "Deer Horns" available at auto supply stores - small whistles that come 2 per pack for about $6-$7 and self adhesive to put on the front bumper or grill of you vehicles - when I was getting a fix-it ticket signed off by the CA Hwy patrol the officer told me they had not hit a deer sense they put those on the CHP cars. 8 yrs now and have not really came close to hitting one & they are thick up here.

Yep, had deer horns up in Central NY but talked with as many people that had them as not and there was little difference. Found most of the time the whistles would startle a deer grazing along the road and a deer on the move is worse than one grazing. Had one hit the side of the car and another time she was really booking right across my path...both deer and car lost.

Very pretty. I've never noticed whiskers either; those are sure long.

I've never seen that either. She looked young, but she might have old.
