Vierra Wetlands about 8am. This Great Blue Heron caught and ate this fish and then the last photo is another Heron with his prize for the morning
EXCELLENT action set Ed. The IQ is sensational in all of them but the action tops everything. Well done.
Some just don't believe in chewing their food do they !
Yes I agree, excellent shots, I am so jealous ! May I ask what size lens did you use ? I am sure you were a pretty good distance away.

Amazing detail. AND YOU CAPTURED THE WHOLE GORY EPISODE! Great pictures.
Thanks Everyone. I used my D300 and 300mm F2.8 with 2x converter from my car window. Fairly close and very little cropping. As a side note. this morning I was driving down a dirt rode close to the wetlands when a Bobcat ran across the road in front of me. Scared the S--t out of me. Tried to get a shot but once they get in the taller grass it's impossible to see them
These are astounding images! I read that sometimes a GBH will choke to death trying to swallow something too large. Easy to see why.
Great set bigmac, love the way it tells the entire story! Among the best GBH shots I have seen.
Unbelievable!!! ;-) Great capture.
Amazing!!! How lucky you were to catch this (no pun intended)!
I've seen anhingas with fish this large and it's fun watching them twirl the fish around and round trying to find a way to get it in it's mouth and many times the fish falls off and swims away. I know it's his livelihood but it's really comical at times.
