I shoot raw almost all of the time. I have iPhoto and apple Aperature , those
Programs make it so easy to convert to jpeg with or without PP I see no reason to shoot jpeg. I love the idea that all the data is there .

I shoot Raw all the time. The benefits of adjustments and fine tuning are a real must for me.

I personally don't useless it something very important, I shoot a lot of daughters sport and wildlife. I don't do a lot of post processing. But, i think i am in the minority. Just curious

What? How many times has this thread been beaten to death? The same responses are posted time after time and this makes no sense. Only the poster is unwilling to search the archives.

Do the search. There are over 50 threads on this topic. It is waste of bandwidth.

Always RAW. One never knows when "That Shot" comes along why not have the best copy to work with. Takes so little bit of time and effort to make them a jpg.

If everyone just searched the archives or the web this site would be useless. What does it hurt if asked before as long as people are willing to come back with an answer.
Be easy and happy as it makes the day go faster. If you don't want to give an answer then just don't.

Exactly - and some things change. I wish I had shot raw all along; learned my lesson, always in raw.

I'm a painter as well as a passionate photographer, I work on composition in my paintings, I work on color, I work on mood, I glaze to get just the look and feel I want, being a painter makes me a better photographer, and being a photographer makes me a better painter.

Shooting in raw gives me almost endless options to get just the mood I want from a photo, I don't do snapshots, and I think of my photographic images as art. As with a painting, hardly ever is the first layer of color just exactly what I want, and as with photography, raw gives me the options I might need to make the image just what I want.

Bob, lighten up. Look how much fun people are having. What's the alternative? Smoking cigars? Drinking light beer? NASCAR?
I think they should get rid of that moldy old search function. You can't even use "key words" on it.
Every day there are new photographers that join the Hog and need to know.
Bob, just my two copper clad cents. SS
