And I thought antiquing was cool - chalking is much better :D
Very nice originals and doctored, you've got talent.

My son was in a 5K race and along the course people threw colored chalk at them. This is the result of what he looked like after the race. I doctored them up with SPE for fun.
I love how you grunged up the photos more! They are great! Looked at your son's website too. You have very talented children. Wonder where they get it from, lol!
Pretty cool Brent. Like the added touches. The 3rd one speaks to me as well.

Thank you vicksart. This is a perfect venue for the SPE effects since the original photos were already in the "grunge" mode to start with. Yes, I agree Cody is well on his way to a brilliant career in animation. I can post more of his artwork if you are interested!
I'm always interested in seeing what other artists are doing, so I'd love to see more of your son's work. Animation is certainly coming into its own these days. Cody is probably in the right part of the country for this, too.
I have a good friend who made the international art scene a number of years, and has been very successful. She was represented by a gallery down your way in L.A. Her paintings tend to be rather large, so she attaches the canvas directly to the wall, does the painting, rolls it up when it's finished and ships it in a tube to L.A. where it's framed and displayed. Right now she has taken some time off because of some health issues related to inhaling paint fumes. Hopefully she'll get back into her art. If you want to look her up, her name is Nancy Reese (there are a few other Nancy Reese's in the art scene when you Google the name, so you may have to dig a little). Look for misty mountains and flaming sailing ships.

Like 'em Brent (you do get up to some odd things!) I too really like #3. To me it's a definite stand-out because: Nice tight crop, always adds impact/drama. Good use of colour (red/green opposites) and saturation. I think it's a fabulous image (even if he does look a bit like a leper lol)

#4 looks like it was painted on an old plaster wall...way cool.
That's the beauty of SPE.......just choosing the right effect for the right photo and making some fine tune adjustments.

My daughter participated in one of those this past June here in Michigan. She looks as messy as your son does! My daughter is actually the one on the right sitting down with the green face. This is after I poured a bottle of water over it.
:)
Thanks for posting the photo of your daughter and her friends, firefly. I'm glad to know that there are other crazy people out there besides just the California loonies throwing powdered chalk at the runners! Your water poured over her changes the look!

Thanks Blue Spark for the kind comments!

Yes Paul, I do get into some odd things! I'm very opposed to the same old photographs here on UHH. I'd like to see everyone get out of their comfort zone and push their limits and show some creativity. That is one of the reasons why I started the thread of "NOT your typical flowers photos". Since flowers and birds are the two most popular subjects here on UHH I wanted to suggest to everyone that if they had to post flowers, then at least post creative flowers. Photography is an art. Express yourself!

Hi Vicksart, I looked up Nancy Reese on Google but didn't find anything that looked like mountains or flaming sailing ships. Maybe you could post a link to her?
You asked to see more of my son's art. What proud father wouldn't want to show off his kid's stuff? I'm attaching a bunch of his drawings and paintings.
That is one terrific portfolio. I wish him well in his future endeavors. ;-)

Thank you Photog8. As a parent it's very gratifying watching him progress and I really think that someday he will be in the animation field doing backgrounds for the movies. He's a good kid and good things are happening!
