LOVE these, the originals as well as the enhanced. So creative and artistic and imaginative. 5K's are fun to run and these depict that.

Thank you carlysue for LOVEing the images, both the PP ones and the originals. With SPE it's rather easy to alter the original to something kind of fun, campy and grungy!

You AND your son are super talented. But have to admit, I have not heard of throwing chalk at runners...seems kind of barbaric to me...not to mention dangerous if they get it in their eyes or breathe it in...weird. ;-)

Thanks Photog8 for the kind words about my son and I. I used to take a lot of 35mm slides with a SLR camera, then lost interest for many years. My son (Shane) graduated from his University in "finance" then after being out in the field for a while realized that it was not for him so he took up photography and is self taught all the way to where he is now. He was the one that recommended the camera that I now am shooting with (DSLR) and my interest in photography has been renewed. It's really nice not having to buy film anymore......I think it opens the photographer up to more experimentation since the cost is not a factor.

Yeah, throwing chalk on a runner seems weird to me too. Other races throw paint at the runner......I can't figure that out either. Thanks goodness I have bad knees and can't run! lol

This is quite an amazing series Brent. I would almost think he'd had a run in (pardon the pun) with a box of soft pastels.
It also looks like he's well on his way to a brilliant future in art.

You are so right, Brent, about digital opening up the photographer's world. I knew digital would be the future when I still had my studio, but at the time it was too expensive to switch over. Only recently have I entered the digital world and find it so much more versatile and exciting. From what you posted of your son's work, he is very talented and has at least a good back up career in finance should he need it. ;-)

Hi BrentHarder

Excellent work.
As said, No 3 seriously kicks ass.

You boys art work is damned good, too.

Thank you vicksart. This is a perfect venue for the SPE effects since the original photos were already in the "grunge" mode to start with. Yes, I agree Cody is well on his way to a brilliant career in animation. I can post more of his artwork if you are interested!

Photog8, I have two sons that are both very talented in their chosen artistic work. My older son (Shane) who graduated with a finance degree is now a pro photographer. Here is his website:

My youngest son is the one that this post is all about with the chalk on his face. I also posted one of his drawings on this thread. He is the artist that wants to do backgrounds for animated films. The younger son doesn't have a backup occupation but I don't think that he will need a backup!

Thank you very much h2 I really like that image too!
My son will have an occupation in the future of working with animated films for sure. He already is establishing contacts in the business which as you know sometimes is more important than your talent!

My son was in a 5K race and along the course people threw colored chalk at them. This is the result of what he looked like after the race. I doctored them up with SPE for fun.

My daughter participated in one of those this past June here in Michigan. She looks as messy as your son does! My daughter is actually the one on the right sitting down with the green face. This is after I poured a bottle of water over it.

:)
