This is an excelent shot!
As far as the slight out of focus on the birds head, I think that you cropped the picture a little. It seems to me that the center of focus may have been just to the right of the bird's claws.
--but so what, I wish I could get a shot like yours--

Actually I think its a hairy woodpecker. The pileated birds are huge. I was lucky to get a picture of one last year. I will consult some bird books :roll:

I did crop it some. I am going to go back and take a look. Thanks for the compliment. I really like the shot.

That is dynamic to say the least....do not think it is "out of focus" at all according to my vision! Fabulous photo, what a beautiful Christmas card, congratulations!

Thanks jowilson. It was very overcast and I was zoomed out to the max. I did bump up the ISO, but I am so new to all of this sometimes I forget what I used for settings. It will be nice when I learn enough to know what to do.
