Sorry, but all the really cool stuff is made by Canon, and that ain't no joke !!

Ignore this comment Laverne45 it was said tongue in cheek, or if it wasn't, it should have been!

Lavern--Rejoice in your new (I think) hobby and enjoy your camera. It's less far, far less about the equipment and more about getting out and shooting shooting shooting--shooting everything in sight-- to develop your artistic eye and mastery of the technology.

Very inappropriate reply to brand new member with brand new camera.

True, true but there are twice as many from the Nikon side that do the same thing. Overall I think these are the same guys that look over your shoulder while standing at a bank of public urinals because they are worried about how well their equipment stands up.

You must have ben in some strange urinals, or maybe I've just led a sheltered life.

I have just joined today, and have a Nikon 3100 with a stock 18-55 and a 55-200. I have been using it for a month now and love it. I chose The Nikon entry, level over the Canon as it offered more, I would have to give Canon the edge in the mid level and its a toss at the top. Just my thoughts.

Kennya, welcome to the Hog, and congratulations on your new camera!
Now go out and wear that puppy out so that you can move up to the mid-level. That's where it gets really exciting.
Again, welcome and enjoy.
PS, can you take a joke?
