A couple of my "garden pets". They have no trouble snaring bugs in the flower beds.

Thank you, Dixiegirl. Not many critters brave enough to face the Texas heat this time of year so happy that she was available. Glad you liked the photos.
Beautiful shots! I love Orb Weavers--they eat mosquitoes, yellow flies, horse flies, and cockroaches, among other things. Here on the Gulf Coast, Golden Orb Weavers are prominent. Golden because they are a yellow spider, and, as such, are often called Banana Spiders when they are most definitely not, and golden because their webs have a gold tint in the sun instead of a silvery one. The gold webs are beautiful and a lot easier to see. (I work outside and there is just nothing like inadvertently walking into an unseen spider web. Meh! That is one thing which causes me to look quite unprofessional. LOL) Unfortunately, I have no photos of the awesome golden webs. For some reason, the ladies have not set up house in our yard this year. Boo.

Thank you for the nice critique of my photos & the additional info re: the Orb Weaver. Seems they are always around here in the summer .. not in over abundance but always see a few. They set up shop in the vegetable garden usually & spend the summer there. Last year I found 3 egg sacs spun to the garden fence late in the fall.
I call 'em Grasshopper Spiders......have you ever seen the blinding speed with which they encase grasshoppers with their "silk" as they hit the web? BTW......great photos
