Did you notice hummers hovering just off of feeder perch? That is a good place to pre-focus, so you can catch an airborne bird, without the feeder.

Use the burst-mode in your camera with shutter-priority.

Douglass, your photos are amazing! Loved the trains, cars, bugs, cute grasshoppers and who ate the fly, underwater, plants, flowers, birds, buildings...what do you not photograph? Thank you for the help and inspiration!

Thank you for the compliment, and you are welcome for the assist. That is exactly why I am active on UHH.

As far as my professional photography: I hold a Bachelor's Degree from Brook's Institute of Photography, but abandoned photography as a means of income, because there are just too many cut-throat photographers in the market. Very few photographers actually make a living solely on photography. Now, I do it for grins & giggles, and the occasional publication.

I'm glad I joined and glad you're here. There are a lot of us that need lots of pointers! I've been out taking bird photos from the porch...it's raining...can't believe it doesn't seem to bother them. Will post as soon as I go upstairs and load on the computer. Thanks again, CL..Nanc
