Recently Bmac posted two versions of the same photo (one b&w, one color) and asked which one members liked better. Like Bmac, I'm posting two versions of the same photo and would like to know which version you prefer. Along with your photo preference, I would also like your input on the photos composition. I've never made the hind quarters of an animal the subject of a photo before and I'd really like to know if you think this angle makes an interesting photo or not.

Joe... I believe the first one is the true color, and I prefer it over the altered one. It's not that a hinny shot is interesting, well some may be...;0), in this one it's the stripes and contrast of color that I think make it interesting. Just my take...

First picture for me also. You might experiment with toning down the bright white on the top of the rump. 8-)

in this case I prefer the black and white. The brown seems distracting to me in the first one, and the second gives a more classic feel.

Mike, thanks for your input. It definitely was the strips that made me take the shot from this angle.

Thanks Bmac, I know the area of the rump is a little bright, if not blown. I was a little lazy in fixing that in post.

Thanks for your input Sportsmom. The very reason that I did a b&w conversion was because of the brown in the Zebras mane and tail hair just didn't look right to me.

The black and white is beautiful IF you either crop out the right half of the image, or the "bottom" half :) I do really like that you got some of mid-body and back of neck.

Hi in both cases I think they are worth while pictures. Both show good depth, tonal variation where it is, and show the markings of the zebra in it's not quite symmetrical best. As to preference with these I would say no1. 2 as the is little colour that is worth preserving in no1.

Linda, Thanks for looking and responding. I'll give your crop suggestions a try and see how they look.

My personal preference is the color shot. It is an interesting point of view. And I was glad to see that the tail was so strategically placed.

Middle of the road here too.:) I have looked at both for awhile and I like both for different reasons. Nice catch!!! Very interesting view.
