I found this in a botanical garden, but there was no sign showing what kind of flower it was (most of the others had signs with descriptions). And there was nobody around to ask. Can anyone identify what kind of flower this is?
It's from that common species called the Ellifiknow which is a very widespread catogery, you go to the store and see something with no label, no price etc so its a Ellifiknow.
I think it's a "Whatchamacallit"...Atlanta Botanical Gardens?...If so, shoot them an email with an ID inquiry...
That's actually what I was calling it! Not from Atlanta Botanical Gardens ... I was somewhere either in North or South Carolina when I spotted the sign and stopped in for a short visit, but I don't remember the name of the place now.

hi thefunxtr this is nigella damascena commonly known as cornflower here other side of the pond
Hi tonyk ... I googled "nigella damascena" and saw very similar photos, so that seems to be what I found. That's a little different than what I have seen called cornflower on this side of the ocean. I was really fascinated by all the minute detail that it displayed. Thanks very much for your help!
Thanks very much Bruce ... this unexpected quick trip to a botanical garden gave me a chance to test out my Sigma 90mm Macro lens (which on a crop sensor is really more of a "close-up" lens), but I have been pretty satisified overall with it's performance.
