Crawford look at "Strain on Tripod Bush when in Portrait Mode" posted here yesterday by Searcher who asked the same question. For me it is to mount a L-Bracket on your camera. The bracket enables the camera to be centered above the center of the tripod. ;)

Camera model specific L-bracket. It's a change to my style made in the last 2-months and I don't know how I made it this long without it ....

The bracket is what I did using RRS. However, just got the Acratech GP QR ballhead and now I no longer need the bracket -

Great solution. Wonder why no one has thought of this before. Post a picture of your setup for us to learn from. How long does it take to switch back to landscape?

Thank you so much for the suggestion. All of the "L" brackets I find are for mounting a flash. Where can I find a bracket to mount a camera 90 deg to the tripod?

Type Kirk L-Bracket in the search bar at B&H or go directly to Kirk on Google.

The only way I mount the camera is mount it using the screw attachment, then rotate the tripod head around a horizontal axis 90 degrees.

If using a telephoto with a collar, simply mount it and rotate the lens within the collar.

Use two cameras and two tripods. Simple!
