It is just like your bird picture, we just have to find the right spot to be with the right settings. I have the same lens on a D600 and still trying to find the sweet spot setting. Love the caption Don.

I very much like my BIGMA (big Sig) like a lot of people. I shoot with a Nikon D7000 mostly on a monopod and go up to ISO 3200 sometimes, with satisfying results, even at 500mm.
Keep acquainting yourself with it. It'll work out.
