Erv, if you go to my Monarch Butterfly post http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-84538-1.html , I ID the male in the description on one of the shots. He has two black spots on his rear wing while the female doesn't. Scroll down thru the pics and you'll see the differences in some of the pics.

Thanks Gene!!!! I will take a look. So much to learn now that I am finding all this stuff I never really look at before.:) But haven a good time doing it and learning.:)

The band across the hind wing makes it look like a Viceroy Butterfly to me.
