Cheers all.
A fair number of people can get a bit over concerned about the inevitable and are not too keen on being reminded of it by shots of this genre.

Hi Rabbott

If the graves stones are from way back I'd normally leave the names showing, however in this case the death was only about twenty years ago and I feel removing the name is the right thing to do.

Cheers.

Excellent looks. Thanks for sharing.

I remember walking thru that cemetery when two local lads approached us. I thought we were getting mugged, but they just wanted to show us the grave for the "Wee Willie Winkie" author. Glasgow was a great visit.

Hi foehner.
Thanks for dropping in.

The author of Wee Willie Winkie is William Miller.
He's buried in Tollcross Cemetery, so that's probably where you were.
The Necropolis is where the first pic was taken, in the Necropolis - the largest and oldest cemetery in Glasgow and is on a hill overlooking the city and next to Glasgow Cathedral.
Beside the Necropolis is Tennents Brewery and there is a plaque there which mentions Miller.

Hope I haven't bored you too much.

Well, I'm easily confused so sometimes change memories for my convenience. :) But I do enjoy reading the facts. I'll try pulling out the photos from that trip (on a disconnected hard drive) and see if that helps my memory.

One coincidence was that I wasn't familiar with Wee Willie Winkie at the time, but Mark Knopfler had just recorded a song that mentioned the poem. So, I didn't have a completely dumb look on my face when the two young men mentioned it.

I'll be on the lookout for more of your Glasgow photos. Thanks!

Wow, dramatic stuff. Are there still deer living in one of the cemeteries?

The first is killer. The second one truly captures what I have been told crucifixion does to the body. Very interesting work sculpture wise, besides photography wise.

Hi Ernie.
I'm using a Mac, so don't know if its of use, but I just hold down "alt" key and press "v".
If your using a PC, I'm sure you can have vast selection by bringing up some font thing.
Good luck with it.
