Here's the low down on me...
I'm Mellisa (yeah - that's not a typo. My folks wanted to be "different" and I blame them for me being the only kid in elementary school without a personalized pencil.)
I'm 39 yrs old, married 16 yrs to the same goof ball. We have a son age 15 and a daughter age 8. I work for the Federal government (hence the screen name) in the local field office, and in my "spare" time I CREATE, anything, everything. I sew & quilt (yes - those are two different things) cook & bake (again, two different things), craft, make jewelry, putz on the computer, and of course take LOTS of pictures. I love music, movies, wine, beer, sports (playing & watching), and making this crazy life FUN!
I'm currently using a Canon S3IS (sooo amateur right?), but I'm saving up for a Nikon D5100, or a trip to Italy, whichever comes first. (please be italy, please be italy, please be italy...)
I LOVE this forum for the advice, perspective, and ideas! Thanks to everyone for sharing, coaching, and encouraging!

First this is I am going to tell him next time I see him what you said about him.
You sound like one of the best all around people on this forum and I will bet a lot of that can be attributed to that "goof ball" . (just kiddin)
Dont let a little thing like a camera stand between you and Italy. My wife and I (she is kinda goofy also) spent a week in Tuscany 2 years ago . We rented a Villa with some friends and found out later that this Villa was used bu Musolinni and his henchman as a hunting villa. I hope you get to go. The country is beautiful and the people are great. We are so glad that we spent most of our time in the country. The buildings are so old and all have a story to tell. I had a point and shoot Canon and most turned out good.
Bon Voyage
Hi, I'm glad to meet you and your husband. You sound as if you are the renaissance type. You have many and varying interests. I love photography and history and my wife is an avid knitter, sewer, and quilter. You can always buy the camera but do Italy while you are still young enough to enjoy the trip.
Welcome to a fellow quilter/seamstress/baker/cook/in general goofball/photo nut/ etc. I had a Canon S3 for a long time, sadly it decided I had clicked the shutter one too many times, LOL. Had to be my favorite digital of all time. Hope you enjoy the forum.
Hi Govtlacky, I am a goverment retiree, I worked with the usps for 18 yrs. and I am also a multi crafter, I sew, crochet, paint (on wood, rocks and many other items)
I havn't painted on my husband yet though :D He won't be still long enough. However I don't do much baking and cooking (not my thing) You really sound like a fun person and it's nice to meet you,
How do you all find time to do all that and get the photos I've seen... I don't have enough time in a day to do photography let alone anything else ...I am impressed

You are an inspiration! An active, creative mind keeps one young (in spite of what aging bones and joints might be trying to tell you!)

Greetings and seasonal salutations.
Picture taken by my sister last summer in Oxford. Tall, dark and interested in photography for many years. First a Kodak Brownie now Fuji fine pro. Been forgetful all my life. Forget to marry, forgot to have children, forgot where I put my lenscap and....I just know there's something else......... Oh well. Did not forget to be happy and contented with my life. Born Lucky. Always swore would not be one of those old f**ts who talked about how good things were when I was a boy... I swear I didn't know I was lying...... Pantheist. 68. Back in school. Recently orphaned so now available for adoption by wealthy widow or similar. Live in the California desert....Love it here. English born. Family motto "Often wrong but never in doubt." Now U.S Citizen. That's it. Happy Snapping to you all.
Nice to meet ya! I love your family motto... and the Queen's on the wall in pic #2 :)
I've enjoyed this thread. I live in a 200+ year old farm house in Maine and am a retired RN with many interests. Am finally able to devote more time to photography and learning so much from UHH and another forum. I am a Pentax shooter. Life revolves around our church, our grandchildren, my husband's antique motorcycle restorations and my music. In the summer I drive an MGB ('72). I am also camp nurse and camp photographer for a music camp. We are close to the ocean (25 minutes) and to the foothills of Maine's mountains. We enjoy a brook that feeds into a large river bordering our property which means lots of birds. Yes, we have had deer, moose and assorted creatures in our yard. Currently, going through the slow process of converting our vinyl LPs from the 50s-70s to CD. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone.
