Can someone tell me the difference between the SX50 and the SX50-HS, please.
Don`t think there is a difference, I think some People just fail to quote the HS bit of the description.
do Google search for SX50 and you get a mixture of results and the SX50 picture when enlarged shows a SX50-HS

They are all HS meaning "High-Sensitivity". To quote Canon for the Power Shot SX50 HS:
"The Canon HS SYSTEM, a combination of a 12.1 Megapixel High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 5 Image Processor, achieves beautiful images up to ISO 6400."

Thank you all. Just did not want to buy the wrong one. I've done that too many times.
Just wondering, have you looked at the specs? That's a good place to start.

It is definitely ONE and THE SAME. We just tend to get lazy and shorten it to SX50 since there is ONLY ONE VERSION of the SX50.
The only Canon with similar number is the SX500 which is a VERY different camera.

The "HS" in the name is the difference.
